Cornish born potter JOHN BUCHANAN, runs classes in ceramics, painting and woodcraft from his studio at Halsetown near St Ives.

Art orientated from youth John first trained as a geologist at Camborne School of Mines where he studied mineralogy, geology, quantum mathematics, and industrial chemistry. In 1961 joined Anthony Richards as an apprentice at the Arch Pottery St Ives, In 1966 he moved to Hayle Towans where he founded 'Anchor pottery' in a garden shed at "Riverside" producing a domestic range of earthenware. John is publishing a signed Limited edition book which will include a 12 page C V and shortly be available from the Craft Center.
